‘90s blowout hair is all about volume, curls and bounce. Forget the flat irons and messy buns, the ‘90s blowout hair is smooth, silky volumised hair that frames the face and has some serious bounce power. It’s a glamorous look that is sure to turn heads wherever you go.

It’s all About the Volume

The key focus of the ‘90s blowout hair is the volume. It’s what differentiates the look from a regular blow dry. Sadly, most of us don’t have perfectly volumised bouncy hair. But don’t worry, to achieve incredible lift to your hair there are a few products you can use. First is a volumising shampoo or conditioner; this is a great base for making your hair look naturally fuller and bouncier. Another way you can create fuller locks is to use volumising styling products added to the root of your hair, such as NAK Hair Volume Foam or NAK Hair Root Mist. These products will help to give your hair a lift before you start styling your hair.

How do I Achieve the ‘90’s Blowout Hair Look?

Although the ’90s blowout may look imitating it’s quite an easy look to achieve at home with the right tools. The best way to do this is with a round brush and hairdryer.

Step 1. Start with applying your products. You’ll want to apply volumising products to give your hair the volume it needs to complete the look. You’ll also want to apply a heat protection spray such as the ghd Bodyguard – Heat Protect Spray to make sure your hair doesn’t get damaged by the heat.

Step 2. If your hair is wet, start by giving your hair a rough blow dry. You want to start this
hairstyle with damp hair.

Step 3. Section of your hair off so you can make sure you’re getting every piece of your hair. With this look you want every piece of hair to look silky and polished.

Step 4. Going in sections start drying and curling your hair with the round brush away from the face. You’ll want to start at the root, holding your hairbrush in one hand and the blowdryer in the other pushing the round brush through the section and curling it away from the face, following with the hairdryer. You’ll want to do this with every section until your hair looks smooth, silky and bouncy!

Step 5. Once you’re done give your hair a spray with hairspray, give it a little flip around to make sure it has enough bounce, and now you’re ready to walk out the door with brilliant ‘90s style hair.
