One of the hottest makeup trends currently is the soft glam makeup look. Characterised by muted, neutral colours, this makeup look appears effortless and dewy. Plus, achieving the soft glam makeup look can be done in just 5 easy steps! After reading the list of steps below, you will be able to rock the soft makeup look any time you leave the house! Step 1: Skin Care and Preparation The first, and most important step is ensuring that your skin is moisturised and primed before putting on any makeup. Taking care of your skin is very important, as putting makeup on an unprepared face can lead to breakouts and skin damage. By applying moisturiser on a clean face, your skin will stay hydrated, and it will avoid the caked-on look once makeup is applied. We love CeraVe’s Ceramides AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 15. After applying facial moisturiser, some individuals opt to apply primer as well. Primer is especially beneficial if your skin tends to get oily. Products such as SmashBox’s Photo Finish Primer do a wonderful job of giving your skin that smooth finish that will help you achieve the soft glam makeup look you desire – and keep it in place! Step 2: Applying a Makeup Base Once your skin is hydrated and primed, the next step is to apply a makeup base. The makeup base includes colour corrector, foundation, and concealer. Colour corrector should be applied first and is especially helpful if your skin has dark spots or your skin has red undertones. Following that, foundation should then be applied. Once the foundation has been blended, concealer can be applied over imperfections and blemishes to minimise them. Step 3: Accent Those Cheekbones and Contour Your Face You can’t have a soft glam makeup look without contour! Knowing how and where to contour your face is important for accenting features of your face that should stand out. Luckily, contouring is not difficult to do! When applying bronzer, we suggest doing so in the shape of a 3: along the sides of your jawline, in under your cheekbones, and up and into hairline. It is also important to remember that the soft glam makeup look is about looking relatively natural. This means lightly applying bronzer in a way that does not make the sculpting too obvious. For a softer bronzer look, we are loving NARS’ Laguna Bronzing Powder. And don’t forget the highlighter – add a sweep of highlighter to wherever the light touches; think upper cheekbones, the inner corners of your eyes, and the brow bone, and even the cupid’s bow. For this, we love Charlotte Tilbury’s Beauty Light Wand. Step 4: Making Your Eyes Pop with Subtlety Unlike prior popular makeup looks that are characterised by pops for shimmer and colour, the soft glam makeup look is all about neutral colours that are blended. On the eyelid, apply a lighter eyeshadow colour that is closer to your natural skin tone. Then, choose a darker eyeshadow colour to apply to the eyelid crease and lash line. Once those colours are applied, you can blend them together and follow up with mascara on your lashes. For those who love a fake lash but want to make sure they stick to a soft glam makeup look, single lashes applied to the upper lash line will work best. Step 5: Perfecting Your Pout The finishing touch of your soft glam makeup look is putting some colour on your pout. When thinking about what colour to apply, nude or a muted pink colour in a shade similar to your natural lip colour is best. Mac Mehr and Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk are some of our go-to “nude” shades.   Looking for an Expert to Apply Your Soft Glam Makeup Look?
