Winter Makeup Trends We’re Loving in 2022
Winter makeup trends are not what they used to be! It wasn’t long ago that powdered finishes, matte lips and autumnal jewel-tone colours were all the rage. Now, we’re seeing new trends that focus on adding all things that shimmer and glisten, as well as a more natural and hydrated complexion. Here are the winter makeup trends we’re most excited for in 2022.
Tinted Serums
We’re loving the trend of incorporating more skincare into our everyday makeup. For your daily routine, swap out the ultra high-coverage foundation for a lightweight tinted BB cream. Not only does it protect and replenish your skin during the drier season, but it leaves you looking soft and naturally beautiful. Pairing a tinted serum with a bit of concealer, cream bronzer and blush is all you need for your base this year!

Metallic Cream Shadows
We’re seeing more and more beauty brands release metallic cream eyeshadows, and for a good reason! Why do we love them so much? With a buttery consistency, they effortlessly blend onto the lids and are wearable for every eye shape. Simply swipe your chosen shade onto the lid for a lightweight, set and forget look, or try layering with another shade in the crease to add dimension. They feel great, wear perfectly, and the pigment is incredible. Try out the Pro Longwear Paint Pot from Mac to experiment with this winter makeup trend.
Glossy Lips
Glossy lips are definitely a trend this winter. Though typically, the shades tend to get darker as the months get colder, why not swap out your matte lipsticks for comfortable, long-wearing lip oils that have the added benefit of hydrating your lips. Lip oils have been popular in South Korea and Japan for many years. With this winter makeup trend, we recommend using lip liner to ensure that you’re still getting defined, plump lips with this look.
Glitter Accents
Euphoria has certainly had a sustained effect on our makeup artistry when it comes to all things glitter. Glitter accents are everywhere at the moment, from the red carpet to nights out with friends. These can be as subtle as using a slightly glittery highlight on the tips of the cheekbones, or using glitter all over the lid, inner corner, and even under the eye to create a bold look. Be sure to use cosmetically safe glitter with glitter glue if you’re wanting to try out this trend!

Pops of Colour
As we move towards more sheer and natural looks, we’re seeing monochrome looks become more like natural makeup with pops of bright colour. Some examples of this trend are applying a bright, pigmented yellow or orange shade to the inner corners of your eyes, or using bold purple winged liner. When it comes to incorporating pops of colour, don’t worry about how you’re tying it in. The striking effect is what it’s all about.
